I went to Writing On Stone Provincial Park yesterday. Sacred to the native Blackfoot people, once a popular place for vision quests, it features some of the most otherworldly terrain you're likely to have ever seen. We used to run through the tightly packed hoodoos wantonly, but tourist erosion has forced park officials to restrict exploration to a single path. Regardless, it's absolutely worth the trek.

It's one of my favourite places on earth, and has been a personal source of inspiration for many an alien landscape.
