The ferry trip to Nanaimo allowed me some time to focus on writing some music. I got comfortable at one of the newly installed work-stations, plugged in my laptop, donned my headphones, and 'worked' as the pretty pine-covered islands scrolled past.

For those who aren't aware, I'm part of the eclectic and increasingly indefinable band "Fidgital". Craig Burdes, who I'm currently visiting, is the band's spectacularly talented drummer. My friend Keith Gillard is the producer, songwriter, keyboardist, and manager- among other things. I'm typically responsible for all things vocal, including writing the lyrics, vocal melodies, and singing, although I've taken a small step back for our current project.

We're aiming to publish an ambient/down-tempo album by early next year. We're huge fans of the genre, and a spacier, less vocal project seemed to make a lot of sense this time around. For purely practical reasons, Keith has relocated to San Francisco, so producing our usual epic vocal arrangements would have been difficult. For more artistic reasons, Keith's isolation has been the inspiration for this album's mood and themes.

I'm pleased with how it's sounding so far. I'll keep you posted!
